Aroha in my whanau

I love my family because they are so caring to me. They cook for me and they buy me toys to make me happy. My dad is big and round but kind. I love it when we go to the park.

My favourite is my mom because she is good at cooking and when she smiles at me, I feel happy inside.

We enjoy doing things together like playing at the beach and spending time together having fun.

My favourite family saying is: “Home is love.”

My favourite aroha symbol is:

Water Awareness

When we went to water awareness lessons we went on the bus. It was fun being with all the boys. On the first day I was a little bit nervous because I can't swim. I was happier when I got into the pool and I could stand on my tip toes.

I learned how to swim and put my head under the water. I had to kick my legs really fast. The teacher told me to lie on my back and relax and float gently. I could still breathe and this is good for if I get lost in the sea.

I enjoyed it when we got inside the boat and we had to fall backwards into the water. I even had to swim under the boat to get to the air pocket when they tipped the boat over. I loved the lessons.

Table Tennis Experience for Room 6

A man called Dinyar came to our school yesterday and taught us Table Tennis. First, everyone was told to get in a line. We were each given a bat and a ball. We had to bounce the ball five times on the bat. Then, we had to balance the ball on the bat and the last one standing wins.

I tried my best at balancing the ball but I failed. I found it very hard because the wind was blowing towards my direction. For the next round, we were told that we could turn around but making sure that the ball does not fall off the bat. I had so much fun. I wish that Dinyar will come back to our school again.

Revealing my feeling through Art

This term I created a portrait of myself. I felt nervous because I am bad at drawing.
First I drew a sketch of my face then I added the nose, eyes, mouth and ears.
I also drew the eyebrows and the hair.
Technically, Mrs. Agnew and Mrs. Yumul helped me so I can finish drawing my self-portrait.
I coloured it using crayons in different colours and used black wax to colour my hair.

After that I had to draw my feelings with a white wax crayon and then paint it with dye. I liked drawing the dark angry line because it felt so good.

My blurb is, " When I'm angry I stomp my feet".

Chicks in Room 6

One day a lady called Jo came to our classroom with eleven eggs. She put them in an incubator so that they keep warm and will hatch. We watched them everyday. On the second day we saw a crack in one egg. It was exciting.

Then on day 3 all the eggs were hatched and the chicks were making a big noise. Mrs Agnew moved them to the blue brooder. The light inside kept them warm and they had food and water.

Daniel took them home one weekend because there was no one to take care of them. He brought them on Monday. I held the chicks twice and they felt soft and fluffy and warm. We had to be careful not to drop them or they could get hurt.

Last Thursday Jo came to the school and took the chicks back to the farm. I was sad. It was fun having them here.
